Frequently Asked Questions

Going into bridal shops and choosing your wedding dress from hundreds in different styles and shapes can be a very daunting experience.

Here are a selection of FAQs that may be of some use in answering any questions you may have.

How long does it take for most dresses to arrive?

Most designers deliver dresses between 12 and 20 weeks after they have been ordered. All of the delivery dates we are provided with are estimates. Most factories are able to deliver on an express schedule, though they do charge an additional cost. This is usually about £40 per dress but varies between designers.



  How do I know my dress will arrive at all?

We deal only with reputable designers who are currently trading in the UK with other retail shops. There are tell-tale signs if a manufacturer is going out of business and we keep a close eye on these. Many of our designers have been trading for several decades. Paying by credit card and dealing with shops who are RBA registered (Retail Bridalwear Association) can provide you with a deposit gurantee in case a business goes under.



What happens if I wish to cancel my order?

Firstly we can check with the designer to see if your dress has started to be made yet and if it is possible to cancel the order. If not, then the balance of your dress will still remain outstanding and will be due when the dress arrives. Only under exceptional circumstances may a refund may be issued by authorised staff.

Can I get a discount?

We offer an Indulgence Card to every bride who purchases her wedding gown on her visit which is over £1000. This entitles the bride to 10% off all accessories, bridesmaid dresses, evening wear & occasion wear until the wedding (terms & conditions apply). Any wedding gown purchased on the first visit between £700-£999 entitles the bride to 10% off bridal accessories.

There are additional perks to being a Karen Forte Bride such as VIP invitations and special discounts or vouchers.

How long does it take for veils, tiaras or shoes to arrive?


You are able to purchase any of these items from stock. If you wish to order one, or order one we haven't got in stock, it usually takes 1-4 weeks. This depends if the manufacturer has it in stock or not. It can take just several days if they do. Our Rainbow Club shoe selection are also dyeable so you can send these to be dyed to match a swatch.

What happens if I need alterations on my dress?

We have in-house seamstresses who you can book a fitting with and they can alter your dress accordingly. January to July is their busiest period so you need to book in advance and allocate at least 6 weeks for them to complete the work, possibly more. They can complete priority dresses faster. The cost is calculated depending on how long it takes to complete the alterations.
